We ask for small favours. Like as simple as asking to get a reference.

We contact the reference but miss closing the loop with the person who gave the reference in the first place.

Why is closing the loop important? Even if we leave aside the need and the usefulness of gratitude in general, just closing the loop helps us solicit much more involuntary favours in the future.

Closing the loop is simple and an important pathway to succeed.
